The data site Niche named The Woodlands, TX the 6th best city to live in. Niche searched cities in all 50 states and used 15 different factors to develop the list entitled “2017 Best Place to Live”. They reviewed local attractions and factored the data into the search for great cities. The Woodlands and surrounding area offer a lot of variety in both indoor and outdoor attractions. Many of the most popular attractions are on the Waterway. After reviewing the list of the top 20 attractions in The Woodlands, TX, it is evident why the city is a great place to live.
Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is the hub of fantastic entertainment from January to December. With live concerts from entertainers like Luke Bryan, this outdoor amphitheater is a popular place. The Pavilion isn’t limited to shows. It also features ballets and orchestra concerts as well.
Hughes Landing Bandstand is on the waterfront in Hughes Landing. This is an excellent way to take in a free concert after dinner or while taking a relaxing walk in the evening. The music varies by the event, but the view is always stunning. Huges Landing Bandstand is just behind restaurant row along the water.
Northshore Park Newly renovated in 2016, this a perfect place to enjoy nature. The park includes playground equipment, sand volleyball courts, hiking trails and covered areas for picnics. It’s a great location for a family day of fun. Public restrooms are available.
George Mitchell Nature Preserve is the most popular outdoor adventure option in The Woodland. A five-mile trail described as “rustic” and is better for experienced hikers. The Flintridge Drive trailhead, also at the nature preserve, “has three miles of single-tract bike trails along with a wider two-mile trail loop.” You may want to print a map before heading out to hike.
Golf cannot be left off a list of top attractions in The Woodlands. There are several beautiful courses to choose from, including the private course designed by Arnold Palmer at The Woodlands Country Club. This 27-hole course is one of three options at the club.
Saddle River Range features archery and firearms ranges. This 33,000 square foot facility is available to use by people of all archery and gun skill levels. The range also offers training courses, and the lanes are open for people wanting practice on their own and keep their skills sharp.
Riva Row Boat House is open year-round, although the hours vary seasonally. If you are looking to kayak this is the place. Both single and tandem kayaks, as well as paddle boats, are available to rent for an hour at a time.
Waterway Cruisers will allow you the same unique tour of The Woodlands from the water like kayaking, without all the work. There are three docks placed around the waterway to enter or exit the cruisers which run on the weekends. Make sure you confirm the times they are available as they vary by day.
The Waterway Trolley is a free transportation option and an excellent way to see the sights of The Woodlands at the Waterway. Don’t reserve these adorable old-fashioned vehicles for special occasions. The trolleys are an every day to help you travel around the area.
The Waterway Square is in the center of The Woodlands. One acre in size, this space features a water show synchronized choreography of motion and sound. The fountains double as a water splash pad, perfect for cooling off on warm summer days.
Market Street Central Park combines many attractions to create a premier location in The Woodlands to shop and eat. Throughout the year Market Street Central Park hosts seasonal events such as The Annual Christmas Tree “Lighting Luminary,” outdoor concerts, an art show, and charity events. Dosey Doe Restaurants and Concert Hall is more than an attraction; it’s an experience. Dosey Doe is three attractions throughout The Woodlands. The Big Barn, Dosey Doe Breakfast & BBBQ, and Alden Bridge Coffee Shop. “The Big Barn has become known as one of the greatest listening rooms in the country featuring nationally recognized artists from contemporary to country, from jazz to bluegrass and everything in between.” According to the Dosey Doe website. The Woodlands Children’s Museum tops every list of popular kid’s activities in The Woodlands and surrounding areas. The museum focuses on entertainment for children K4-grade 5 and includes exhibits for imaginative play. The Market, Water Play, and Dream & Build areas designed for kids to explore on days the museum is open. Although admission costs are low, having a membership is a great option for those days when the kids need a place to play outside of the house.
The Woodlands Mall, The greater Houston area, is not lacking in options for shopping. The Woodlands Mall is an attraction that still stands out on the list. This two-story facility hosts 160 stores. It’s close to The Market Street Mall.
Bowlero houses a bowling alley, arcade, and billiards under one roof. Bowlero offers a full menu and bar. They open at 4 pm Monday–Friday and 11 am on Saturdays and Sundays. Check out their website for details on closing times as well as bowling leagues.
Escape The Room has two locations in Texas, one in The Woodlands. This attraction ranks high on several Trip Advisor lists. The Woodlands building has four choices of escape room adventures. This popular team building activity isn’t just reserved for office events. Purchase a few tickets and work the puzzle with strangers or buy all the tickets and have a private event. Either way, The Escape Room locks in participants until they escape or time runs out.
The Ice Rink is a great way to get into the holiday spirit. This attraction is open from November-January, with a holiday theme decorations. At 21,000 square feet, there is plenty of space for the whole family to skate. The ice rink is at the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion.
Spas Both The Spa at the Woodlands Resort and The Spa at The Waterway are the perfect options for pampering. Choices of services include a massage, manicure, pedicure and skin care attention. Extensive menus make either place an excellent choice.
