Houston (32 miles from The Woodlands) – Texas’ largest city is just a quick drive away from The Woodlands. Houston is full of wonderful museums, including The Houston Museum of Natural Science, The Museum of Fine Arts, the Space Center Houston, and the Holocaust Museum. For great shopping, head to The Galleria, and for nature, relax at Discovery Green. With an impressively endless number of restaurants, festivals, entertainment, and cultural events taking place on any weekend or day, Houston has something for everyone.
Tomball (15 miles from The Woodlands) – This historic town is right next door to The Woodlands and is full of charm. The historic downtown area is beautifully maintained and features the Railroad Depot, which includes train memorabilia, antiques, a model railroad, and art, and the Tomball Museum Center, a historical look at Tomball. Come on the weekend for tours of the Depot and to participate in one of the city’s many popular festivals.
Lake Conroe (25 miles from The Woodlands) – This immaculate lake is perfect for nature and boating lovers and right in The Woodlands’ backyard. Enjoy nature by renting a boat for the day, going fishing or swimming, and enjoying the pool. The area attracts wildlife like ducks and cranes.
College Station (74 miles from The Woodlands) – This cute college town is home to Texas A&M University, where you can view the George Bush Presidential Museum and attend a football game. There’s great restaurants and shopping in Downtown Bryan, and nature lovers can head to Lake Bryan for well-maintained trails and swimming.
